Use these ferrules to mount your vinyl exterior window shutters to an uneven surface. Ferrules help you stabilize the corner, end, or side of your vinyl shutter when the hardware will reach the surface but you can't push the exterior shutter flush with the outside wall.

Using ferrules as spacers will prevent your vinyl shutter from flopping back and forth or breaking during high winds. They can also be used to cover exposed screws or Shutter-Loks when installing exterior vinyl shutters on shake or shingles to make the hardware more eye-pleasing.

Description
Ferrules are the professional solution to mounting exterior vinyl shutters to stone, river rock, lap siding, uneven brick, or other irregular surfaces. You can even use the ferrules to stabilize the outboard side of the vinyl shutters when mounting them over the top of the window's trim.

Made of a type of styrene, ferrules can be trimmed to the proper length using a hacksaw or PVC pipe cutter. They double as a neat way to cover your exposed mounting hardware when installing vinyl shutters to shingles or shake, and can be painted to make the shutter mounting hardware blend with its environment.

Ferrules will work with either Shutter-Loks or painted screws. They can be used with any brand or style of exterior vinyl shutters for a professionally finished installation.

Did You Know...
In the Colonial through the Old West era of North America, board and batten shutters and solid panel shutters were modified with diamond cutouts to be used for gun ports during shootouts. Over time, the cutouts in the window shutters were made into moons, hearts, flowers, and other decorative patterns. Today many wooden exterior shutters can still be ordered with decorative cutouts.
