ShutterContractor.com was founded in 2002 by Shad Storhaug as a retail
distributor of vinyl house shutters and accessories. The initial
sales of outdoor house shutters we received through our web site far exceeded
our expectations.
Our response was to add additional helpful information about house shutters
to our web site. During the next five years, we continued to improve our
customer service, shipping times, and product offering. Building on its early
foundations, ShutterContractor.com became a household name in the exterior
shutter industry.
We saw some initial success during those first five years while specializing in
vinyl exterior house shutters. However, due to demand we saw that selling
only vinyl house shutters was not enough for our customers.
In September 2007, ShutterContractor.com merged with ESSCO Exterior Products,
the largest wholesale distributor of exterior house shutters in the western
United States. ESSCO was formed by Brian and Karen Throsteinson in 1992 as a
manufacturer of exterior house shutters. ESSCO supplied vinyl siding, vinyl windows,
and vinyl exterior shutters to professional building supply centers, siding
and window contractors. During the 1990s, ESSCO added to its product offering
by acquiring the exterior house shutters division of 17 competing companies.
Shortly after the merger, we added the Mastic vinyl exterior shutters line and several
exclusively designed Mid-America house shutters to our inventory.
In February 2009, we began offering Shutter ReNu and Vinyl ReNu - products specifically
designed for customers to get the most of their existing house shutters by restoring
them rather than replacing the shutters on their houses.
In July 2009, we added 2 collections of StyleCraft™ wood house shutters to our
online shopping cart which brings our online house shutter offering more inline with
what we sell offline.
Our committment to you is that we will continue to expand our selection of house
shutters and accessories, and continue to improve our customer service and delivery
