- Is Shutter ReNu paint?
No. Shutter ReNu contains no pigments. - Why not just paint my vinyl shutters?
Painting requires much more effort and time and if not done perfectly, creates a mess in the form of paint splatters, spills, and overspray. In addition, paint may fill in the wood grain/embossing on your vinyl shutters especially after two or more coats making your vinyl shutters look like plastic or painted. Shutter ReNu uses the latest in environmentally friendly chemistry to visually restore the color of your vinyl shutters. Since paint simply covers the problem and fades over time, the cost of Shutter ReNu is lower than painting and much better looking. - What is Shutter ReNu?
A low VOC (volatile organic compounds), environmentally friendly surface restorer and protectant. Since it is water-based product, it cleans up easily. - Will I be helping the environment by using Shutter ReNu?
Yes. Significant energy is required to produce vinyl shutters. By restoring your existing shutters you save energy and your vinyl shutters will not go into a landfill. - How do I dispose of unused Shutter ReNu?
Follow all Local, State and Federal guidelines for disposal of water-based paints and coatings. In many areas simply allowing the product to dry to a solid and throwing the dried product away in your trash is OK. You must however follow all Local, State and Federal guidelines. - Is Shutter ReNu hazardous?
You should read the label of Shutter ReNu and all products you use in and around your home. Shutter ReNu does not pose a significant health risk and is water-based. A material safety data sheet (MSDS) is available for download. Please keep Shutter ReNu away from children and pets. - Will Shutter ReNu damage my siding, stucco, cement board, windows, etc?
No. Shutter ReNu Cleaner should be thoroughly rinsed after cleaning. Any Shutter ReNu that gets on windows should be cleaned quickly. Any Shutter ReNu that gets on other surfaces can be allowed to dry clear or rinsed with water quickly after accidental application. Note that if your vinyl shutters are installed over vinyl siding that is also faded, any accidental application of Shutter ReNu on the vinyl siding could restore it and make the fading of the rest of the faded siding more noticeable. - Will Shutter ReNu or Shutter ReNu Cleaner harm my plants?
Diluted Professional Grade Vinyl ReNu Cleaner will not harm your plants. Small drops of Shutter ReNu that land on your plants should be rinsed quickly with water to prevent harm to delicate ornamental plants. - What caused my shutters to fade?
Primarily, the harsh UV rays from the sun. Shutter ReNu will prevent the UV rays reaching your restored shutters keeping them beautiful for years. - Can I apply Shutter ReNu over painted vinyl shutters or painted wood shutters?
Yes. If your painted wood or vinyl shutters have faded, Shutter ReNu will give your shutters the "just painted" look. If your painted vinyl or wood shutters are not faded Shutter ReNu will prevent them from fading. Simply clean your painted shutters with a 20:1 dilution of Shutter ReNu Cleaner instead of the normal 10:1 dilution. Use a soft cloth. - How do I clean my shutters once Shutter ReNu is applied?
You can use diluted (10:1) Shutter ReNu Cleaner and a soft cloth. However, really all that is needed is a yearly rinsing with a garden hose. - Will Shutter ReNu work on white vinyl shutters?
We do not recommend using the Shutter ReNu Surface Shield on white vinyl shutters. Shutter ReNu Surface Shield is made to restore color, and does not work on white shutters as there is no color to restore. The Vinyl ReNu Cleaner is all you will need on faded or oxidized white vinyl shutters. If your white shutters have mold, we recommend buying new vinyl shutters. - What is the difference between Shutter ReNu and Vinyl ReNu?
Shutter ReNu and Vinyl ReNu are exactly the same formula. The main difference between the products is the quantity they are packaged in. Vinyl ReNu is more economical for restoring vinyl siding than with Shutter ReNu. Also, only Shutter ReNu is covered by a 10 year warranty.
