Description
Vinyl shutters by Mid-America are a made from a weatherproof fade-resistant polypropylene (a durable type of vinyl for outdoor use). And with so many colors, sizes, and styles available, it is no wonder Mid-America outdoor window shutters are the world's most popular brand. Built to withstand the test of time, Mid-America external shutters are backed by a 40-year warranty that can be transferred to the new owner should you sell your home.
Mid-America style P7 exterior window shutters are made to look like bi-fold shutters and are meant for large windows over 50" wide. P7 custom shutters also work great when you want to make your decorative shutters look as if they will close over wide windows or if you would like to cover the spot where a window was removed. P7 style shutters feature a unique double-wide raised panel shutter design. Custom made by hand, these shutters are available in 20 1/4, 20 1/2, 29 1/2, and 31 inch widths and can be ordered in custom shutter heights of 22 to 110 inches in 1/4 inch increments.
Given the fact you have 18 pre-colored shutter styles and one paintable shutter style available, you have the flexibility to match your raised panel shutters with virtually any house paint colors. You also have your choice of mounting hardware - choose between patented vinyl Shutter-Loks or painted steel screws for your custom shutter installation. Add black plastic decorative hinges to your raised panel shutters for an authentic colonial look.
Construction
Mid-America custom vinyl shutters are made from discrete injection-molded plastic parts. The parts are injection-molded in specific widths at the Mid-America central factory. We then cut to height and join the parts using factory-supplied ultrasonic welding equipment. The end result is a strong joint that won't come apart even under the most stringent weather conditions. Each shutter is then hand inspected to ensure high quality construction before it is shipped.

Available Colors
NOTE: Please do not rely on the colors that
are displayed on the screen. To get an exact color match, we strongly recommend
ordering a
color sample before placing your
order for double wide raised panel shutters.
If you would like to paint the shutters, order color #030 Paintable. None of the other Mid-America
colored vinyl shutters are paintable and attempting to do so will void the product warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can these exterior shutters be mounted over the top of a window at an angle like Bahama shutters or Burmuda shutters?
No. Vinyl shutters are for decorative purposes and are meant to be permanently fastened to the outside wall. They are not strong enough to be mounted with Bahama shutter mounting hardware to cover the window.
-
What are the advantages of vinyl shutters over wood shutters?
The color-through molded vinyl shutters are easy to install, easy to clean, do not warp, crack, fade, peel, split, or rot. Exterior vinyl shutters also provide better resilience than wood shutters under harsh conditions, such as near the ocean or in areas that receive heavy rainfall.
-
How do I remove the Shutter-Loks from the vinyl shutters once they are in place?
Slide a chisel behind the shutter until it comes in contact with the Shutter-Lok. Make sure to keep the sharp edge of the chisel away from the wall. Give the chisel a sharp tap with a hammer and it will cut through the Shutter-Lok. After the shutter is removed, shear the remaining part of the Shutter-Lok flush with the surface and bore out the shank with a drill. Fill the hole with silicone to weatherproof. See our Vinyl Shutter Removal Instructions for additional information.
-
My exterior wall is uneven. How do I install my exterior vinyl shutters?
You can use ferrules (a short cylindrical pipe) as standoffs to keep your vinyl shutters stable. Simply paint them, trim to size, and mount them behind your exterior shutters. Do not to put wood blocks behind the vinyl exterior shutters because they will rot fairly quickly.
